BACKSTAGE GUIDELINES

To make sure keep our dancers safe and our venue clean, please review our backstage guidelines listed below.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP

At Chesapeake High School, please enter through the main doors. Parents will sign in their dancer in the lobby and drop them off with their class Backstage Mom in the cafeteria (directly next to the lobby).

Parents will return at their class dismissal time sign out their dancer with the Backstage Mom.

On Recital Day, the parent that signed in at 11:30am will sign out their dancer once the recital has finished. Sign out locations will be given when you arrive on recital day.

WHAT YOUR PERFORMER CAN EXPECT

Performers should expect to play fun, simple games with their classmates in the dressing areas (CHS classrooms) as they wait for their time to shine onstage. Waiting for your class stage time can feel long due to the detailed rehearsal each class has, but it is also very exciting! Backstage Moms will have coloring books, board games, and dance games ready for our young dancers. If your dancer would like to bring a quiet game to share with their classmates while backstage, they are welcome to. Please leave valuables (like special toys, tablets, phones, etc.) at home.

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

We expect all Symmetry Arts dancers to behave as they would in our studio: with respect, kindness, and poise. When in the theatre, dancers should be quiet to not disrupt any performances onstage and walk at all times. Let's be sure to respect the space by not touching theatre curtains, lights, or playing with classroom items.

FOOD & DRINK

During Dress Rehearsal and the Recital, dancers are allowed to pack a snack and a bottle of water in their dance bags. Please make sure your snack is NUT FREE and mess free. Snacks like carrot sticks, a granola bar, pretzels, or goldfish are great options. To keep your dancer's costume tidy, please pack a sweater they can wear over their costume as they have a snack.
